Janice Cook Design brings more than 20 years of custom home design, interior design and decorating and home staging experience to each and every project. The Janice Cook philosophy is simple: First listen to the client to understand their vision, and then translate their vision into a design that draws them home.

When working with Janice Cook Design you can rest assured that your ideas will make it into the finished product, rather than being plugged into a 'firm specific style.' Of course, we'll advise you and your contractor on the design parameters of your project - feasibility, re-sale criteria, room scale, structural parameters, etc. - so you'll be able to follow through with the plan in the most efficient and cost effective way.

Janice Cook Design is founded on the principals of faith, integrity, value, professionalism and always delivering on our clients' wishes. And we also believe in taking the environment into consideration in all of our projects. Some firms tout their Green Design as a new way of working. At Janice Cook Design, we've always worked to leave the smallest environmental footprint as possible, using natural and environmentally friendly materials and recycling materials wherever possible.

Janice brings a life-long passion for and more than 20 years experience in designing living spaces that reflect the unique style and vision of the clients she works with. After a brief career in real estate, she pursued her education in architectural design, earning her Certificate of Graduation from the Sheffield School of Interior Design with an Award of Merit for Outstanding Excellence in Interior Design, Sketchup and Architectural Rendering.

In the late 1980s Janice launched her own firm (and also worked for a time with Pollard-Hosmar Designers and Arbor Homes) and has been drawing plans that draw people home ever since. She loves the challenge of tapping into the client's creative vision and turning it into the home of their dreams. For Janice, that never gets old.

A native Portlander, Janice can't imagine living anywhere else - she loves being close to all of the natural beauty the coast and mountains offer. The winner (at age 15) of the "Most Spiritual" sculpture award at the Cannon Beach Sand Castle Contest, Janice has usually got pencils, a paintbrush or quilting materials in her hands when not working on design projects. She also loves using her hands and imagination in the garden and kitchen, and enjoys a good read, hitting the links and setting out on mountain trails.

Janice and her husband have three grown children and two grandchildren, and look forward to someday having another cat... as soon as the coyotes migrate away from their home.
